Prices for translation projects are basically set per 1 standard page (SP) of a text in the target language, i.e. 1800 characters & words (30 lines typed with 60 characters and words each).
According to the requested delivery deadline and the nature of the document to be translated, the price for urgently made tanslation project is charged with extras of between 50 % and 100 %.
The minimum invoiced sum is 1 standard page.
Any translation job — with each page being a unique one — is neither machine nor line production; however, for events of larger translation projects or numerous repetitions, as well as for key & contractual clients I offer reasonable deadlines or cut-offs.
For CAT tools assisted translation projects, I use to quote jointly for special rates with cut-offs and per translated page flat rates.
Owing to my curiosity as regards the size of different translation projects in both source and target languages, l have analysed to find out that 5.5 is the mean number of characters per one word; then it produces a mean number of 327 words per one standard page; at last, these, e.g. 327 words must be combined into meaningful sentences, and many people interested in "the translation of just 327 words" are often probably unaware of this fact.

Whereas the values of actual per word number of characters use to vary considerably between individual languages, the number of standard pages still remains the most exact way to calculate the actual size of a translation project.
The difference in the extent of the sizes between the texts in source or target languages most often varies within ±15%, so I recommend my clients to take this value into their consideration when the final price is estimated.
In the case that you may be interested in knowing how much a translation made by me might cost, just send me the text in any form by e-mail and tell me exactly when the translation should be made; apart from the aforementioned, I prefer to make my in-advance empahise larger rather than to explain later to the customer, why my previous emphasise has been „to the client's detriment“.
